Grading Day –
This year grading will occur over two weekends, please see below for details :-
Weekend 1: Sunday, 22 February (11:00–13:00) – Willows Oval
Students and new players welcome. Meet selectors, captains, coaches, and teammates. Short games and drills included. BBQ and refreshments to follow.
Weekend 2: Saturday, 28 February (13:30–16:30) – National Hockey Centre
Lower grades: 13:30–15:00 | Higher grades: 15:00–16:30
Weekend one is more of a meet and greet session. Weekend two is where the serious grading will be undertaken. To make this day go smoothly, we would appreciate if you could all fill out the below form to let us know your playing intentions for 2026. This includes people who are unable to attend Grading Day, to give us an idea of numbers and to ensure everyone’s playing intentions are recorded when making teams.
If you are new to the club we suggest that you attend the lower grade session, you may subsequently be then asked to stay around for the higher grade session. The same applies to the higher graded State League players from 2025 who are aspiring for Capital League selection in 2026.
Please fill out this form to indicate your grading preferences for 2026 : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckQd0ogJ0xYxNJlUmTiZxm8vhjIktvkutMU4yhqSH8dQqgaQ/viewform

Training – Capital League and State League training this season are both at Lyneham on the Carter field from 19:30 to 21:30.
Due to the current upgrade of the Carter field training on Carter is expected to start sometimes after 10 April. We’ll confirm the start date and provide details for pre-season arrangements as soon as possible.
Capital League and aspiring Capital League players will have extra training sessions and fitness training prior to the commencement of general club training, details TBA.
Again, we are looking for coaches to make the most out of this so if you’re interested let us know! We can offer a fee reduction (if you’re a player) or a small payment to those interested. Reach out to anumhcpresident@gmail.com if you’re keen, or know someone that would be.
Capital League coaching – Ben Bishop is our Capital League coordinating coach in 2026. Bish has worked as the Assistant Coach of the Men’s high performance program with Hockey Australia, the National Junior Coach and the Head of the Hockey program at Hockey ACT. He’s also played for ANU and Australia. David Lane will coach CL1 while Adrian Derham will coach CL2.
Club spirit – If you’ve got any mates that are even half keen, bring them along! Enthusiasm is the only pre-requisite. Being a uni club, we have a great record of welcoming new players every year into a supportive environment. It’s important that we keep doing this and treat our team mates, opposition and umpires with respect. Its something we take pretty seriously so please reach out to your captain or a committee member if you have any questions.
Sponsorship opportunities – There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities with your club. We offer exposure to a vibrant community organisation with lots of students and professionals. The more we can gain in sponsorship the less we have to pay in fees. If you’re interested please reach out to anumchpresident@gmail.com.
Supporting our existing sponsors – We’re incredibly fortunate to have such a great sponsor cohort with us this year, without whom our ambitious agenda wouldn’t be possible. Please take some time to support our sponsors where possible

They also offer a range of other software and support services. Even if you don’t need their products, they gain a lot of publicity from Twitter so please give them a follow and plenty of likes
Hellenic Club – Hellenic in the City are again going to sponsor the club this year which is fantastic. Hellenic is a great place to place to start/continue/finish a night out so get around them.
