Playing Hockey with ANUMHC

Thanks for picking ANU Men’s Hockey Club. We cater for all ages and skill levels – from elite players through to beginners. If you’ve never played before we could probably even find you some gear.

Again, we are looking for coaches to make the most out of this so if you’re interested let us know!  We can offer a fee reduction (if you’re a player) or a small payment to those interested. Reach out to anumhcpresident@gmail.com if you’re keen, or know someone that would be.

CL1 coach – Ben Bishop is our CL1 coach again in 2025. Bish has worked as the Assistant Coach of the Men’s high performance program with Hockey Australia, the National Junior Coach and the Head of the Hockey program at Hockey ACT. He’s also played for ANU and Australia.

Club spirit – If you’ve got any mates that are even half keen, bring them along! Enthusiasm is the only pre-requisite. Being a uni club, we have a great record of welcoming new players every year into a supportive environment.  It’s important that we keep doing this and treat our team mates, opposition and umpires with respect. Its something we take pretty seriously so please reach out to your captain or a committee member if you have any questions.

Fee increases – Hockey ACT has put up fees for both team registration and facilities use. The move to Lyneham has also put up costs but the Committee believe this will support the growth of the club. Combined, these will result in fee increases. Investing in our CL coach Bish has drawn sponsorship money and fundraising commitments to the club so has effectively worked out to be cost neutral, and the benefits he can bring to CL and our coaching staff are substantial.

Sponsorship opportunities – There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities with your club. We offer exposure to a vibrant community organisation with lots of students and professionals. The more we can gain in sponsorship the less we have to pay in fees. If you’re interested please reach out to anumchpresident@gmail.com.

Supporting our existing sponsors – We’re incredibly fortunate to have such a great sponsor cohort with us this year, without whom our ambitious agenda wouldn’t be possible. Please take some time to support our sponsors where possible

Yowani Country Club  is a great place to spend time with golf, bowls and accommodation on site as well as great dining at the 19th on Northbourne restaurant. Yowani is regarded as one of Australia’s finest inland golf courses. The accommodation consists of 24 motel style rooms. There are three sun shaded couch bowling greens to enjoy.

Survey Design and Analysis Services (https://twitter.com/SDAS_ANZ) – Survey Design and Analysis Services are the official distributors of Stata Software in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. They also offer a range of other software and support services. Even if you don’t need their products, they gain a lot of publicity from Twitter so please give them a follow and plenty of likes

Hellenic Club – Hellenic in the City are again going to sponsor the club this year which is fantastic. Hellenic is a great place to place to start/continue/finish a night out so get around them.
